Alternative Economy Cultures


Venue: Kiasma Theatre + Kiasma Seminar room
Time: Friday 3 April, 10:00-18:00 The seminar aims to tackle not just the financial, but the social, cultural, institutional, human, material, emotional and intellectual forms of capital. Not just about individual gain, boosting, balancing or bail-outs, but common good, peer-to-peer, shared wealth and appropriate reward for effort involved. Digital Craftsmanship seminar


Venue: Kiasma Seminar room
Time: Saturday 4 April, 10:00-13:00 What is ‘digital craftsmanship’? This mini-seminar is looking for an answer to this question from the perspective of digital design study programmes, companies and individual practitioners. The participants of this seminar include artists, designers, engineers and students from ART+COM (DE), The Berlin University of Arts (DE), Taik Media Lab (FI), Yatta (FI), Culture Lab Newcastle (UK), Kitchen Budapest (HU) and Konstfack (SE).

Art, Science & Ecology presentations


Venue: Lasipalatsi / 'Spaceship Earth'
Time: Saturday 4 April, 12:00-17:00 Pixelache09 features a series of presentations by artists who explore ecological issues in collaboration with scientists. Presenters include Ulla Taipale (FI), Terike Haapoja (FI), Anu Osva (FI), Christopher Burman (UK), Martti Hyvönen (FI) and Tapio Mäkelä (FI).

Pixelache Open Forum


Venue: Kiasma Seminar room
Time: Saturday 4 April, 14:00-17:00 Open Forum is a series of short presentations (approx 10 min) on interesting recent projects and work in progress. Most of them have been selected from the open call for projects for Pixelache09. The series feature presentations by experienced professionals as well as students from local schools. Presenters include Scott Goodstein (US), Keyvan Minoukadeh (UK/IR), Sofia Oliveira (PT), Niina Varonen + Suvi Numminen + Ville Toivonen + Anniina Koskinen (FI), Timo Wright (FI), Andy Best & Merja Puustinen (FI), Kalle Mäntsälä (FI), Prokop Bartonicek (CZ) and Sebastian Schmieg (DE).

Networking meeting


Venue: Lasipalatsi / 'Spaceship Earth'
Time: Sunday 5 April, 12:00-14:00 An informal gathering where you can meet some of the organisers and curators who are attending Pixelache09. There will be short 5 minute presentations about future events, projects and initiatives, including Mal au Pixel (Paris), Timelab (Ghent), Alternative Party (Helsinki), Live Herring (Jyväskylä) + many more to be confirmed.
