Following the Pixelache Festival 2019 Breaking The 5th Wall's charming vibe, we decided to revamp our monthly members' meetings, creating a more reflective and deliberative gathering. Each month an association member will be responsible to lead a presentation or discussion.
The first open meeting will dedicate 1hr to share & discuss a proposal by Andrew Gryf Paterson related to the upcoming 2020-2021 production framework, with conceptual theme proposal #Burn____
14.8.2019: Paterson writes: "Sketchy theme of Burnout, rebranded as #Burn____, which connects psychological, social and environmental collapse, and how we can survive it, developing resilience. Public discourse on mental health, burnout in our professional circles in Finland is almost taboo.. Everyone knows but doesnt want to talk about it. Postmedia and somatic contemporary art practices, as well as social activism, commons-orientated and increasingly non-mediated--but network-facilitated--exchanges and commissioned works. The programme of 2020 would ideally consist of monthly open events which invite an audience into the capacity-building and partnership dialogues necessary to tackle such a hybid and multi-dimensional combination of inter-relations, as well as work towards archiving past Pixelache endeavours. The festival in June 2021 would aim to be as outward facing and scaled similar to the 2016 edition Interfaces for Empathy. If we count the 'non-announced' festival of Autumn 2018, and the build up year of 2020, the next festival in 2021 would be our 20th year of public events and activities. We will also work towards a major public archival deposit into the Finnish Media Art Commons in 2022."
